County Council Criticised for Lack of Action on Accident Black Spot

Lib Dem Surrey Heath Council Group Leader David Whitcroft has reacted angrily to what he says is a lack of action on a road near his ward on which there have been two fatal accidents and further serious incidents in recent months.

Liberal Democrats at Surrey called on the Leader of Surrey County Council to resign following the publication of a damning report on services for vulnerable children in the County.

There was unanimous, all party agreement at last week's Full Council meeting at Surrey Heath when the Lib Dem group moved a motion about the state of the Borough's roads and verges. The full motion read:

NO OVER 60's BUS PASS USE IN SURREY HEATH BEFORE 9.30am - UNLESS YOU LIVE IN WINDLESHAM!

A proposal from Surrey Heath Liberal Democrats to permit the overs 60's to use their bus passes from 9am - in line with the rest of Surrey - was defeated in the Council by a vote of 26 to 6.

Not in Surrey heath before 9.30am - Unless you are in Windlesham!

STILL no proper pensions justice for Gurkhas

Thousands of retired Gurkha soldiers will gather outside Parliament on Wednesday 19th March 2008 in an unprecedented demonstration which will see them hand back their precious Long Service and Good Conduct Medals to the Government. The Gurkhas are campaigning for justice and fair treatment.

When the revised bus pass scheme comes into effect at the end of March holders of the new pass will be able to travel out of their 'home' local authority area, giving them much greater freedom than at present.
